Blue Krishna is grown in the Kintamani Highlands, in the volcanic soil of Mount Agung alongside citrus trees. The trees provide shade and extra income for the farmers. The coffee production style is organized around Subak Abian, an ecologically stable irrigation system developed 1,000 years ago by Hindu priests who practiced Tri Hita Karana a philosophy focusing on harmony between humans, the environment and God. Blue Krishna is wet hulled, and sun dried on raised beds.
